It was a great day to be a camper as the first ever "Camp St. Nicholas - Camp at Home Day" was held!  50 campers and many of this past year's counselors shared in the magic of camp at St. Luke Church in Garden Grove, CA on November 11, 2006.  The day started with Orthros followed by the campers being put in their groups and paired with their counselors.  The first morning activity was Christian Education which was based around the preparation period for the Nativity of Christ-Advent.  The Christian Education teachers talked about preparing for the feast through prayer, fasting, scripture reading, and alms-giving.  Following Christian Education the counselors talked about the tradition of the advent wreath and every family made one so they can have one in their home.  We also talked about St. John the Baptist who prepared the way for us.

After a great lunch, it was time for our Afternoon Activities: COLOR WARS!!!!  Our Purple and Green Team Captains really got everyone excited for the games that were to be played.  After some tiring Capture the Flag, and Fireman games, it was time to head inside for an early edition of the Gong Show, Campfire and Dress up your counselor.

We thank God for a great day as the campers were reunited with their friends and counselors and remembered the reason why they come to camp, to learn and grow in Christ.  Camp St. Nicholas will be hosting "Winter Camp" on January 19-21, 2007 and will be open for all campers in the 7th-12th grade to attend.  More information about Winter Camp can be found at www.campstnicholas.com.
