On Saturday, October 15, 2005, the Executive Board of the Antiochian Women of the Diocese of Los Angeles and the West met with His Grace, Bishop JOSEPH, during the Fall Delegates Meeting.  The purpose of our meeting was to get some direction and guidance from Sayidna as to what he would like to be our focus for this term of office.

His Grace stressed Diakonia, service to our Church, keeping our focus on God and the church, and not so much on just business and fundraising.  He will need our assistance from time to time to visit churches that don't have women's organizations yet, and he also wants us to visit as many parishes as possible, with an additional plan to stay in touch with those that are too far away to visit.

Sayidna commented how the converts study Orthodoxy very hard, and he wants us to have some type of study in our work together as a Board.  His Grace suggested that we share our Orthodox readings with one another in the form of book reviews and other means to spread the word of education as a very important step to understanding our faith.

Our Diocese is vast, 53 parishes spread out amongst many states and provinces, and we must each everyone, including the parishes that already have established chapters.   Sayidna suggested setting up women's retreats in every deanery, so that all women will have the chance to attend at least one retreat a year.

On our website are suggested booklists and daily Thoughts for the Day from Sayidna, which we should make use of in our lives.  He also suggested we use the recordings of the annual clergy seminar for religious programs in our parishes.

The board members had the opportunity to also ask His Grace questions and determine what we could do to help him in his ministry.  We thanked him for spending this very fruitful time with us as we strive to build the Sisterhood of the Antiochian Women in our Diocese.

MANY YEARS MASTER!
