Washington State Clergy Make First
Mission Trip to Wenatchee
On August 18 & 19, 2006, Father David Hovik, Father Michael Shanbour, and Deacon James Bryant made their first Mission trip to Wenatchee, Washington.
Three homes were blessed on Friday afternoon and later that evening, the clergy celebrated Vespers and made a presentation on the Orthodox Faith. Father David gave an outstanding talk about his journey to the Orthodox Church. The rest of the evening was spent answering some questions. We were blessed with good advertising in the newspaper and our Orthodox people brought friends and neighbors. Hence, about 30 people (half Orthodox) came to the Friday evening meeting. Some Greek Orthodox folks came. There were very interested in an Orthodox Church.
The next morning, Father David and Deacon James served Divine Liturgy in a home, while Father Michael chanted the responses. There were approximately 12 at Liturgy.
God willing, the next trip will be September 15-16. By your prayers, we will continue to work toward the goal of a significant and healthy Orthodox presence in the area.
