His Grace, Bishop JOSEPH Makes His First Two Public Appearances Following His Back Surgery

By the mercy of God and with all of your love, prayers, and support, His Grace, Bishop JOSEPH, made his first public appearance following his back surgery on Saturday, October 21, 2006, at the Annual Diocesan Delegates Meeting in Whittier, California.

Upon his arrival in Whittier, Sayidna was received by the Right Reverend Paul Doyle, Protosyngellos of our Archdiocese and Dean Emeritus of the Southern California Deanery, and a number of clergy. He entered the General Assembly to an enthusiastic standing ovation from the delegates of the various churches of the Diocese. Sayidna addressed the General Assembly, answered questions, and then excused himself to return to the Chancery.

Later that evening, Sayidna made a short appearance at the Banquet that honored the members of The Loafers at the Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles. He was recieved by the Very Reverend Great Economos Michel Najim, the Very Reverend Timothy Baclig, the Very Reverend John Reimann, the Reverend Deacon George Taweel, and Mr. Richard Ayoub, Master of Ceremonies.

He entered the Banquet to an enthusiastic standing ovation from the attendees (185+). He addressed the gathering with his usual sense of humor. He thanked The Loafers for their work and especially for their financial support for the improvements to the Chancery. At the conclusion of his address, he personally thanked and embraced the Chairman of The Loafers, Mr. Naseeb Saliba, and excused himself for the evening.
