Parish History

All Saints Mission began in August 1993 to serve Orthodox Christians families of Arabic descent residing in Sonoma and Marin counties, north of San Francisco, California. At that time, Archpriest Fr. Alexander El-Far, a native of Palestine and veteran priest who had served for 25 years in Lebanon and 8 years in Jordan, made house-to-house visits among the families to determine if there was interest in starting a mission. On August 22, 1993, with the blessing of Metropolitan PHILIP, the mission’s first service was held at Holy Family Episcopal Church in Rohnert Park with over 75 people in attendance.

Since then, despite human frailty, several Orthodox Christian families and individuals of Palestinian, Greek, American, and even Polish backgrounds have continued to meet and worship. Mission member Karim El-Far (Fr. Alexander’s son) was blessed as a Subdeacon in 1994, and John Dibs, a graduate of St. Vladimir’s Seminary in New York, was ordained to the holy diaconate in 2001. We have been very fortunate to have both young and old members present at our worship services. Currently, educational activities include Sunday School for the children and catechism classes for future members. His Grace, Bishop Joseph has made a number of memorable Episcopal visits to the mission beginning in 1996.

We ask for God’s continued mercies and blessings to establish a viable church community and to keep the mission under the protection of the saints.
